Aerial Yoga
Aerial yoga combines the physical practice of yoga with elements of acrobatics through the use of a suspended hammock constructed out of the silk material that is often used in aerial performances.
Here are 5 good reasons why you should try Aerial Yoga.
1. It Helps for People with Back Problems
When participants are hanging upside-down in the hammock by their waists, the process re-aligns the spine while hydrating the vertebral discs within the spinal column, which also allow space for nerves within the spinal cord. It’s called a zero compression inversion.
2. Aerial Yoga Makes You Blissful
A healthy brain is a happy one. Aerial yoga increases neuroplasticity of the brain (one’s ability to learn) by creating new synaptic connections and neural pathways as well as increased proprioceptive response and kinesthetic awareness. Throughout movements performed in class, the “happy hormones” or serotonin, endorphins and dopamine are also released. So, if you’re feeling sad, sign up for class.
3. Your Skin Will Flow & Glow
Inversions enhance complexion by providing fresh blood to capillaries in the face and detoxifying the skin. The bottom line is that Aerial yoga is good for your skin.
4. With Trust, You Won’t Fall
Getting participants to trust me, the hammock, and themselves. Classes at Glow Spa in Hollister, CA are capped at 10 people to make sure everyone receives adequate attention and assistance but also offer private classes/parties. Plus, conquering fear is one of the best ways to boost self-esteem.
5. Classes Are Open to Any Age Group
While there are some exceptions–people with vertigo and certain eye problems as well as those who are pregnant, for example–Aerial classes are open to any age or level of fitness. It’s a good idea to check with your doctor first. Katie has 60-year-olds flying through the air while doing flips.
